I need advice on writing this

I have a story where basically a kid is a geek and tries to kill himself while putting the gun to his mouth he keeps on saying I wish I was neverborn. Then he has siezure and drops the gun. He wakes up in a different body and in a universe where he was neverborn. When he goes to school he finds out that he is a jock. He has flashbacks of new memories. Eventually he has a basketball game to play in, but his coach finds steroids in his locker. He doesn't have any flashback memories of him taking steroids. So he is arrested since he is 18 and expelled from school.

In the next story I plan of putting him in a nut house along with other people that say they were neverborn. So I am going to narrow down who is really crazy and who is sane.

For my other characters I wanted to make them switch cliques in high school, ie my first character switches being a geek to a jock.

I need help on figuring out how they got there though.

An idea I was that there are god like entities playing a game of chess with these peoples' lives, but I don't know how to build upon it.

If anyone could collaborate with me that would be great.
