...you should send out, today, the best work you are capable of doing today. Of course you'll do better a year from now. But a year from now you should be writing the story that you care about and believe in at that time--not reworking this year's story.

My favorite book on writing is David Morrell's Lessons From a Lifetime of Writing. He's the guy who created Rambo with his novel First Blood. It tells you everything you need to know. I also own a book called Writers on Comics Scriptwriting. I reviewed it for scryptic over a year ago, and I've read it a bunch of times. IF you're interested in writing comics then this is a good option; far from perfect, but as a book of interviews it asks all the right questions and has pages of scripts to work from.
