You moon the wrong person at an office party and suddenly you're not 'professional' any more.

Status of the Site

While Drew's working on getting the existing and new columns rolling on the new site, I'm still working on behind-the-scenes stuff. If you don't hear from me here on the forums for a day or two (or three), it's mostly because I'm working on the site. You might have noticed we were encountering some performance problems last Monday (it was due to an issue in the code that I was able to get fixed). Here are the things I'm currently working on:

--Getting all the old articles from the old site transferred over (I have a few done, but I have quite a bit more to go). If you're a prior Scryptic columnist and I've already set up an account for you (to assign your column to), please feel free to contact me to get your login information.
--Getting the research database transferred over. I have all the links, but I'm still working on getting them converted over to the new system.
--Getting the script samples uploaded. I have all the scripts... just need to find some free moments to manually upload them into the new system. If anyone wants to volunteer to help out, please contact me, and I'll see if I can get you access to the script upload utility.

Thanks for the comments so far on the new Scryptic. I've put a lot of effort into this revamp, so I'm glad people are liking the changes.

Jeffrey,

I'm happy to lend a hand with the script uploading.

I died. My old membership disappeared. It had been a while since I had been on here anyhow, so not sure what the statute of limitations is.

Anyhow, dig the new site. Looks clean and slick, in a way that the old site only dreamed of. Looking forward to lurking a bit more than I did in the last year or so now that I'm actually doing some writing again.

Well, I'm glad you got better.

I wasn't able to transfer memberships over to the new site because of differing encryption algorithms (so everyone's old membership disappeared). But it'll be worth it since the new software is much easier to maintain than what the old site was using (and since I'll be the primary webmaster for Scryptic now, easier is worth it to me).

Spiffy site update... bummer about reregistration, but maybe it doesn't hurt to clean out the ol' electronic colon... leaving you with that lovely image...
