Re:New Making Good-The Agony and Ecstasy of Deadli

I have to say my own relationship with deadlines is not so friendly. I chafe under them. They are certainly useful and keep things on a reasonable schedule, but I hate having to slave creativity to a calendar.
The chafing is one of the reasons I wanted to be sure to get everyone's input on the subject as I was doing interviews - to try to find ways to make/find peace with deadlines.

New Making Good - Vito Delsante Takes on Superman!
Posted: 2008/05/13 13:18
I published a new Making Good column today over at ScrypticStudios.com, in which I interview comics writer Vito Delsante. Here's a quick excerpt:
What's the best advice you could give on the craft of writing?
Other than what I just said, I always give three pieces of advice:
1. Write what you know. Learn what you don't. 2. If you're given the opportunity to write a big name/franchise character, you have to treat it like your neighbor's toy; you have to give it back the same way you got it. 3. Write every day. Because the writer you want to be? He's writing right now.
Vito's issue of Superman comes out tomorrow. Please join us in his "Help Sell Out SUPERMAN #676" campaign. If you're on Facebook, you can join the Facebook group here.
This week I interview Jim Hardison, whose first comic THE HELM hits stands from Dark Horse tomorrow with art by Bart Sears. THE HELM may be Jim's first foray into the comics medium, but he has a lot of experience in both story and characters and plenty of wisdom to share on the writing process it.
