(and here's where I'm hoping one of my buddies - Caleb? - will actually do the research I'm too harried to do, and give me the real truth behind this veil of lies, half-truths, and outright fabrications)

Well, since I've been called out on the carpet by name, I guess I better pony up some facts here.
The cover date of The Amazing Spider-Man #252, "Homecoming", was May 1984
Elvis's next-to-last single was "Way Down," released while he was still alive on June 6, 1977
Elvis died August 16th, 1977
Elvis's last single was titled "My Way" and was released posthumously in November of 1977
While there have since been such albums released as Elvis: Gospel Favourites (yes, it was British), the gospel albums released during his life were titled How Great Thou Art, You'll Never Walk Alone and He Touched Me. Interestingly enough, the only Grammys Elvis ever won were for his gospel music.

was the fact that sometimes, you've just got to get away from comics for a bit, and do something else. Think about something else. Live something else.
Heretic! You make me wanna You will be damned
Ahh ... Actually, what I was trying to say (before I became possessed - hence I take no responsibility for the above comments) is that you are absolutely right; this is what my wife, dog and job are for ... to distract me from comics for even a few hours in each day

Elton, I loved your latest column Mostly because I become a Dad in October, but also because I really enjoy reading about your writing process. PLUS, you are one of the few columnists who can get me to laugh out loud while reading your work.
Cheers and congratulations on all the success coming your way!

thanks, Jason, I appreciate that.
(but would you please explain about the 50 ways?)
sorry, but I am incapable of uttering the phrase "I appreciate that" without hearing that line from "50 Ways to Leave Your Lover" and finishing it.
It's just one of the things about me that makes my wife question my sanity ; )
I'm glad you are enjoying the column(s). Counting you, me, and my mom, that makes 3 of us!
