Nothing in the world can take the place of Persistence. Talent will not; nothing is more common than unsuccessful men with talent. Genius will not; unrewarded genius is almost a proverb. Education alone will not; the world is full of educated derelicts. Persistence and determination alone are omnipotent.

How can I help out?
Posted: 2006/11/01 07:41
I'm looking for a new way to contribute to the site.

I've already considered a column, but 1) we already have some great columns, 2) I don't know what to write about.

I've also thought about posting news again, but I don't know if I can commit to that kind of time, seeking out news and such. I'd REALLY like to, because it needs done. But I'm not sure if I can do that right now.

Anyone have any suggestions?

A Lesson in Journalism

Well, if you're interested in doing a column and not quite sure what to write about... you're a journalist, right?

Why not do a short mini-series on journalism, specifically pertaining to comics and entertainment?

Lots of folks are blogging up the internet with what they perceive to be "quality reviews" of webcomic, print comics, books and movies... why not lend an instructive and guiding hand?

"Hey, guys and gals, here are some pointers on how to ... write a review, secure an interview, put together a press packet, etc."

I think something like that would be very valuable.

As a journalist, a comic book writer and a comic book journalist, this is a column I'd like to see. Ryan make it so!

Thanks guys. The idea of writing a column like that has been on my mind for a long time, actually. Truth is, I'm just not sure if I have enough to say on the subject. But it's never far from my thoughts.

Hey Jason ... you still with "them"? How are things going there?

If we are thinking of the same "them", no I am not. I am working with another "them" that you have ties to though ...
