Members Books for Sale

I'd like to see an ad box or something that links directly to books that Scryptic members are selling (ie. a direct link to their ComixPress, Lulu.com, Amazon, etc, sales area). Nothing huge, just something that shows that the writers here do more then chat.
I don't think it should be something that's automatically handed out either. Maybe it's something you get only after a certain number of posts or regular activity.
Just a thought... keep up the great work, guys.

Featured Work
Posted: 2006/10/30 23:29
Another idea that just struck me... it'd be great if Scryptic started "featuring" some of the work of its members.
Now, that we've got this great community profile system, let's put it to work. Wade through some of the members' sites, find some the of the best and coolest stuff and throw it up on the front page. I'm not talking about an article or interview (though it might be worthwhile), just a little exposure and some room for comments.
How is this different then posting in the forums? Well, being featured wouldn't be an automatic right. It'd be something that happens infrequently and as the result of some Scryptic assigned columnist's research. People could submit their work to be featured, but the guru behind it could also choose to feature work that hadn't been submitted.
This would also demonstrate Scryptic's commitment to quality and excellence.
Just another thought...

It's possibly something I could working into the Links section, or I could see about creating a "Writing Credits" tab for the profiles.

So, something like a "Scryptic Featured Writer of the Month" (or something similar)? That's something we could add to the site down the road... it could potentially be time-consuming though, so we'll need to look it over carefully to come up with a method for handling it.

In terms of the technical end, I was thinking it'd be as simple as adding a new column called "Scryptic Featured Writer" or something with each new "item" being an intro to that particular week or month's selected writer and/or their work.

Technical end isn't an issue at all. Fairly easy for me to add something like that with this new system. Time-consuming would be going through all the writers' works initially to find candidates. Something like that couldn't be judged by one piece of work, so multiple pieces would need to be read... and then multiply that by the number of writers we could eventually have here in our community. It would be nice to be able to feature a writer like that, but it'll take some time (and probably something that wouldn't get implemented until I finish migrating the rest of the data from the old site to the new site here).
