Where to go ... Limited Series, Regular series?

I've decided to make a go of writing some comic scripts. I have absolutely no knowledge of the medium besides a healthy fascination for most of my life. I have tried novels, short stories, but nothing published so far (only a couple attempts, one still in process.) Anyways, I'm putting together a script and, while I know it won't be magic on the first try, I want some advice. Most publishers want ten complete pages, but there are some that "say" they read script submissions. But how should I go about it ... should I start out small, one complete story, or build a major character story lasting twelve issues, or have a short limited series about four issues? Most publishers want a complete overview, too right? Oh I hope I made some sense. I'll ask some more questions soon, hope somehow can give me advice. Back to writing.

My suggestion, before doing anything longer, is to write several 3-8 page self-contained stories, finding artists for them, and publishing them in an anthology. For a big list of anthologies to submit to, see the Creator Services link in my sig. Because comics is a visual medium that requires, not writing for an audience, but for an artist first and audience second, nothing will give you your "sea legs" like actually seeing how an artist interprets what you've written. Once you have a few of those under your belt, then aim higher.
