I thought I would let everyone know what is keeping me busy these days. I’m going to get a Comic Book and Gaming Convention going in Houston Texas. We’re calling it U-Con, check it out:
I’m doing it as a fund raiser for our church so table sales and admission fees all go to the church and since we are using the church building and facilities we can do it for cheap. Ok, now I know some of you are going, church? What kind of church wants a bunch of comic book geeks, sci-fi nerds and Goth devil worshipers running around their building? Well, we are a pretty strange church, existing far outside of the mainstream. We’re Unitarian/Universalists, which is where the U in U-Con comes in. In fact, our church was born in Transylvania and we are pretty much considered Heretics by all the mainstream Christian churchs. If you were wondering where all the hippies from the 60s went, well they’re still alive and well, serving tofu at the UU church. Anyway, suffice it to say we like weirdness in all its forms so everyone is happy to be hosting this Con.
I’m still working on the guest lists and our flyer campaign gets started this weekend. We have a Merchants Room with 40 tables, five private gaming rooms and a large room for social activities and board games. So, if you are anywhere near Houston on August 4th check us out, it’s going to be a great time.
